Sticking to age-old traditions and techniques, Den Living produce bespoke furniture on site with pieces still lovingly constructed in the same way as they would have been centuries ago - by hand and with lots of love, labour and care!
Furniture created on the 50,000 sq ft workshop boasts a handcrafted touch and approach, but features the added luxury of modern-day fabrics and finishes, resulting in stylish, quality pieces designed to last a lifetime.
New Victoria Mill will now be home to The Den Design Hub, opening its historic doors to a new way of working for the interior design industry.
New Victoria Mill stands tall above the bustling town of Bury, giving a historic nod to its industrious past as a powerhouse for the manufacture of cotton.
Today, the extensive mill is home to interior designers and furniture makers, Den Living, and it will also be home to the new Den Design Hub.
Steeped in history, the 5 storey mill boasts 8000 sq ft floors, 2 of which are solely for the Den Design Hub, providing plenty of space for designers to meet, greet, work and present. There is also a large furniture manufacturing floor and unlike city centre-based workspaces where space is limited, Design Hub members will benefit from ample car parking and on-site secure storage.
Den Living are renowned worldwide for the exceptional quality and style of their bespoke furniture. Featuring an 8000 sq ft manufacturing floor, a 6 man design team is headed up by Andrew Riley, who boasts a lifetime of experience in furniture manufacture and has a particular passion for Chesterfields.
An expert in cutting, sewing, designing, upholstery and frame making, Andrew is fondly known in the trade as “The Upholsterer’s Upholsterer”, and the quality of his work is acclaimed across the country, with many high profile clients such as Rio Ferdinand regularly returning for his services. Andrew is passionate about his work, and inspiring others into the trade and as such runs an apprenticeship scheme to pass on his wealth of experience to young creatives.
No project is too big or small for the Den Living design team, and no item unmakeable. As Andrew regularly states “If it has cloth and foam, we can do it.”
Working with this ethos, each week the manufacturing floor delivers a range of bespoke items from beds to bars, all made to specification with a handcrafted, unique touch and delivered with the promise it will last a lifetime.
The Den Living team is headed up by entrepreneur Daniel Healey, who has created interiors for a host of familiar names and places, including renowned restaurants such as Chaophraya and Rosso, and the dazzling homes of Manchester’s glitterati. Armed with a wealth of experience within the furniture world gleaned from his father who owned two small furniture shops, Daniel decided he wanted to take a more creative approach to furniture selling, and Den Living was born, a concept that aimed to strike a harmonious balance between unusual design and commercial appeal. Fifteen years on, Daniel is supported by a team of expert interior designers, craftsmen and furniture makers with all orders for both private homes and commercial venues being designed and custom built from from concept to completion at the 30,000 sq ft mill that is now home to Den Living.
